Private Hands-On Lessons

One-on-One Lessons

Private Teaching from my kitchen to yours in real time...

Relax in the comfort of your own home while preparing delicious, fast, and fun dishes with either interactive virtual or in-person instruction. Perfect for a special date night from your own home.

Whether a beginner or an experienced home cook, I will customize your lesson to your favorite cuisines, skill level, dietary restrictions, and schedule. Each lesson will include a complete meal plan and private lessons can be scheduled as an on-going series.

Your private lesson can be reserved for one of the menus on Eventbrite, or contact me at david@mealticketsf.com to discuss your own customized menu.

Like most life skills, cooking takes practice. Understanding the ‘hows’ and ‘whys’ of each dish will free you from recipe reading and will give you the flexibility to substitute ingredients as needed. You’ll enjoy cooking as much as I do.

Private Group Lessons

Cooking Party

Team Building Event

Host your own private cooking party, or a fun team building event. Classes are available either virtual or in-person. Private group lessons are reserved exclusively for your group to create a delicious meal from their own kitchens.

Virtual classes are perfect for engaging with your co-workers, or friends who live in different cities through a fun interactive dinner party, either with everyone in your kitchen, or with everyone in their own kitchens.

Virtual classes are approximately 90 minutes and held via Zoom. Please make sure to download Zoom prior to class. After registering for a class through the Eventbrite link, a confirmation email will be sent with our Zoom meeting log-in information. Prior to group classes, an ingredient list, equipment list, and any advanced instruction will be sent to your registered email account.

In-person classes are about three hours long and can be held in your own home, or at various Bay Area venues. I provide all equipment, ingredients, and staff for our multi-course menu and we even do your dishes!

Either way, connecting with co-workers, friends, or family has never been tastier.

What our Students Say…

"We keep booking classes with David because every time we do, we come away with a great new recipe that we use over and over. Every time we make the meal again, we have a blast talking through the things we learned and the techniques we practiced in David’s class!"
Erin G. | Las Vegas, NV
"I loved the opportunity to learn from my own kitchen. The video technology really enhanced the experience. I was able to see what was going on from up front vs. the back of the room (classroom setting)."
Shayne S. | San Francisco, CA

"David’s virtual class is part of our new stay-in date night. I love learning how to prep a new recipe with my wife, over a few glasses of wine. David does a great job keeping the tempo fast while making sure we understand not just how to cook, but why each step and ingredient matters."
Ryan G. | Boise, ID
"David's classes are extremely fun and easy to follow. He makes it easy to substitute ingredients in advance or on-the-fly. I was able to adapt the kitchen equipment that he recommended to what I had in my cabinets. Overall, his class was a wonderful, supportive experience!"
Mike E. | Los Angeles, CA

About David Groff

I have always been interested in not just creating great dishes, but tweaking the ingredients, understanding the science, and researching the history of every dish. After graduating from both the California Culinary Academy and Tante Marie’s Cooking School, I cooked at Zuni Cafe, and Gioia in San Francisco. I developed meal plans as a personal chef, volunteered with the Bay Area’s largest fish supplier, and was the head of instruction for recreational classes at San Francisco Cooking School for seven years.

As cooks, our first response, our comfort zone, our happy place is to nourish and to feed. I am eager to pass this experience and knowledge onto you, and be your mealticket to amazing meals. –– Chef David Groff
